hello.
My name is Maggie. I am a fine artist and illustrator, though I am also so much more. Other than making art, I enjoy reading, baking, being outdoors, drinking tea, and giving my dogs lots of love. I have a large extended family, so spending time with them is also very important to me.
I believe that these hobbies and priorities in my life not only make me a better artist but a better person as well. They provide the emotion and inspiration that help me create and do what I do. My loved ones in particular help me rest, recharge, and remind me to never give up on my passions. Without them, I would not be where I am today.
my story.
I was born and raised in Northwest Arkansas. As an area rich in art, beauty, and creativity, it has been a huge inspiration for me. I have always been interested in art. I have drawn and sketched since childhood, but it wasn't until high school that I began pursuing it more seriously, using it as a way to process the world around me and finding a passion that I never thought possible. I am currently a senior in college, where I will receive a BA in Fine Art and Illustration as well as a MA in Teaching.
Art has always been a deeply personal experience for me. It is how I understand and express my thoughts and emotions. Being extremely shy and introverted my whole life, art has often helped me connect with people in a way I couldn’t otherwise. It has also acted as a bridge for me to begin opening up to others. Children in particular seem to like my work, as it has surreal and fantastical elements, and they are who I am able to connect the most with because of it.
This eventually turned into me working with children to create their own art, and it has been such an enjoyable experience! Watching their creative processes and imaginative minds is amazing. In the future I hope to teach art to students in a school setting. I want to encourage them to express themselves to their fullest potential and learn to be confident in their work.
